KOMPETENSI KOMUNIKASI GURU SEKOLAH MENENGAH ATAS RESPONSIF GENDER

Abstract


The education process requires a very large communication role. In fact it has a very large role in determining the success of the education in question. In the implementation of formal education (education through schools), it is clear that the role of communication is very prominent. The teaching and learning process mostly occurs because of the communication process, both verbal and nonverbal communication. In the communication process the role of the teacher determines the success of the learning process. Through gender responsive communication competencies will be realized a quality and fair education. This study aims to analyze the forms of verbal and nonverbal communication of gender responsive teachers. The study was designed as a descriptive correlational survey. The study was conducted in Padang City and Agam District, West Sumatra Province, which was carried out from July to August 2018. The study population consisted of teachers who taught in Padang City High School and Agam District. The number of samples was 100 teachers in Padang City and 100 people in Agam Regency using the Taro Yamane formula. The data collected in this study consisted of primary data and secondary data. Primary data collection was done using a questionnaire. Data analysis was carried out in descriptive statistics. The process of data analysis using SPSS version 20 software. The results showed that in communicating the teacher was still not gender responsive. For this reason, it is necessary to improve teacher communication competence through gender communication training  and gender training.
